PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably detect the address information recording area without reproducing the address information at the time of starting the recording/playing-back operation in a recordable optical disk whereon a center line of the address information recording area recorded in a pit column is arranged to be the same as a center line of a track of the user's data recording area. SOLUTION: At the time of playing-back the disk, a detecting signal of the address information recording area is produced by detecting that amplitudes equal to or larger than the certain threshold are outputted in the plural number of times by a tangential push-pull signal. Also, the change of the DC level in an envelope signal of a reproduced RF signal or an average value signal of the reproduced RF signal is detected, then the detecting signal of the address information recording area is produced from the timing of the above change.
