PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem in a facsimile machine in which a destination (FAX number) for transmitting image data can select a destination from a destination list of a user identified by password, or the like, among destination lists of all registered users that a relevant user can not use a destination, not registered in some destination list but registered in the destination list of other user, for transmitting the image data. SOLUTION: If a desired destination of some user is registered in the destination list of other user as a result of retrieval by means of a facsimile, that user is allowed to use only that retrieved destination for transmitting image data. Consequently, labor of registration is lessened at the destination while keeping secrecy of the content registered in the destination list of other user.
