PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a user that a file format designated by a user is not conform to the terminal type of a transmission destination when it is predicted and to make the user confirm the presence of a specification error. SOLUTION: When image transmission is designated, a CPU 11 confirms a relation between terminal type information stored in the destination terminal type storage table of an information storage part 14 in accordance with a mail address designated as the transmission destination, namely, the terminal type of the transmission destination and a transmission system whose use is designated. When PDF(portable document format) transmission is designated although the terminal of the transmission destination is an Internet facsimile terminal, and when Internet facsimile transmission is designated although the terminal of the transmission destination is not the Internet facsimile terminal, CPU 11 causes an operation/display part 24 to display a message for urging the user to confirm the transmission system.
