PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an irreversible circuit element and communication equipment which are made compact and short. SOLUTION: An irreversible circuit element 1 is constituted of a permanent magnet 9, a ferrite 20 whose DC magnetic flux is impressed by the permanent magnet 9, a plurality of center electrodes 21-23 arranged at the ferrite 20, and a lower case 4 and an upper case 8 in which the ferrite 20, the center electrodes 21-23, and the permanent magnet 9 are housed. Thickness t4 of the lower case 4 is set so as to be not less than 50% and less than 100% of thickness t8 of the upper case 8. The upper case 8 and the lower case 4 are made of metal consisting essentially of steel.
