PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method allowing the transmission and receiving of contents data and information meeting the environment and the requirements of a user when the user desires to receive the service having additional functions from contents data. SOLUTION: This contents providing device comprises a contents read means 120 for inputting contents data from an input interface 110 and reading a contents ID from the contents data, an RRDS generating means 130 for generating RRDS as a data assembly formed of sets of contents IDs, system profiles indicating terminal functions, user policies indicating the requirements of users, and contents address information indicating a channel through which the contents are obtained, and a contents acquisition means 100 receiving the contents information from a contents providing device 200 to the RRDS, determining an application for handling the contents information, and starting the determined application to acquire the contents information.
