PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of processing image which can improve luminance correction. SOLUTION: This method of processing image includes a first step of finding maximum and minimum values at every image data R, G, and B, a second step of normalizing the image data R, G, and B from the found maximum and minimum values and classifying picture elements into blocks defined within a fixed luminance range, and a third step of limiting high- and low-luminance regions from the picture elements classified into the blocks. This method also includes a fourth step of limiting the frequency of luminances from the frequency distribution characteristics of the luminances obtained in the third step and a fifth step of calculating the mean value of the luminances based on the block numbers of the obtained blocks and the frequency of the luminances and finding the difference between the mean value and a reference luminance as a correction value. |
