PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device that can considerably enhance the resolution through highly accurate interpolation without the need for precise control of pixel positions and correct dispersion in characteristics of light receiving elements with high accuracy. SOLUTION: The image pickup device is provided with an image sensor 2 that includes a plurality of the light receiving elements 11 laid out on an image pickup face and outputs a video signal denoting a light receiving amount of each light receiving element, a very small motion mechanism 3-6 that applies a relatively very small motion to a plurality of the light receiving elements with respect to an optical image projected onto the image pickup face, and a processing circuit 9 that processes the video signal outputted from the image sensor 2, and the processing circuit 9 calculates individual distribution information with respect to the luminous quantity distribution in the vicinity of each light receiving element on the basis of the video signal from each light receiving element at a plurality of positions with different very small motions, respectively calculates the video signals at the same position on the basis of the individual distribution information of a plurality of the neighboring light receiving elements and corrects the relative intensity of the video signal of each light receiving element so that the video signals at the same position are equal to each other.
