The invention concerns a process for monitoring a dynamic system, such as a telecommunication network (RT), whereby time-related occurrences (CR) based on events, such as warnings observed in the system are identified by an engine (MRC), at least one time-related occurrence depending on at least two events. It consists in constructing trajectories of a Petri network with transitions consisting of time-related occurrences in each of which an event occurs only once. A diagnostic unit (DI) selects a subset of identified time-related occurrences constituting the transitions of a trajectory, as diagnosis. The invention combines the advantages of time-related occurrences with Petri network trajectories.
