PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for parts selection capable of selecting parts supposed to be optimal to use automatically and providing it to a designer in the case of designing a product. SOLUTION: When parts information on each of parts to be provided from the terminal device 1 of a parts maker is given to a server 2, the parts information on each part is stored in a data storage part 22 to generate a database. An interchanging condition table and a priority condition table expressing an interchanging condition and a priority condition for selecting parts optimal as parts showing the same characteristic as parts used for designing are generated and stored in the part 22. When the selection of the part is requested from the terminal device 3 of a client, the optimal parts are selected by referring to the database, the interchanging condition table and the priority condition table.
