PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a wrong battery consumption display in outputting a signal in a remote control device. SOLUTION: The remote control device which generates the signal for the remote control of a control object detects a power supply voltage for each fixed period until a prescribed time (60 seconds) has passed from the completion of outputting such a signal and, compares the detected voltage with a preset threshold. When the detected power supply voltage is lower than the threshold Vs during the period, until the prescribed time has passed, a relevant battery is considered to be consumed. Therefore, the remote control device determines that the relevant battery is consumed and controls a mark display for the battery consumption to 'on'. When the detected power supply voltage is equal to or higher than the threshold Vs, the remote control device controls the mark display to 'off'.
