PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information recording medium in which preferable initialization can be performed and to provide a method for initializing the medium. SOLUTION: The optical recording medium is produced by forming layers of at least a first dielectric layer, a recording layer, a second dielectric layer and a reflection layer on a transparent substrate having guide grooves, with the track pitch as the interval of the guide grooves being <=1.2 μm and with the thickness of the substrate ranging from 1.1 mm to 1.3 mm. The irradiation energy density per one scanning on the optical information recording medium is specified to 1,100 to 1,400 [J/m2]. |
