<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology capable of reducing the road of processing in the case of executing image processing, especially processing followed by image coding or image decoding and capable of shortening processing time and reducing power consumption. SOLUTION: A 1st hierarchical image WI1 is generated by adding wavelet conversion to an original image OI. In this case, an LL sub-band component is recorded in an intermediate image memory 28 as an intermediate image II. The wavelet conversion of the original image OI is advanced up to a 3rd hierarchical image WI3 and then encoded image data based on JPEG2000 are generated through quantization, etc. In the case of forming an image of comparatively small size in accordance with the purpose of the image, the intermediate image II recorded in the memory 28 is encoded as a new original image 40 without expressly starting encoding from the original image OI.</p> |
