PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform encoding with higher efficiency while deterring a listener from feeling physical disorder. SOLUTION: An adaptive mixing part 102 performs a mixing process for inputted signals Ln(t) and Rn(t) according to distortion rate information En(f) reported from a distortion rate detection part 106 and limits the operation times of MS stereo encoding and IS stereo encoding. Further, the adaptive mixing part 102 generates power correction information Pn,adj(t) corresponding to a mixing coefficient to make power corrections when reproduction is performed. An encoding control part 104 selects an encoding system for an encoding process that an encoding part 105 performs and indicates it to the encoding part 105. The encoding part 105 selects dual encoding, MS stereo encoding, or IS stereo encoding according to the indication from the encoding control part 104 and encodes a spectrum signal supplied from an area conversion part 103. |
