PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the life of an image carrier which does not form image, to eliminate dependence on different image formation modes which are equal in number to image formation colors, to prevent tension angles of an intermediate transfer belt in a primary transfer part, where image are formed, and a contact state of a transfer means in a secondary transfer part from changing, and to ensure a stable image and transfer and transfer material separation in an image forming device having the plurality of image carriers and the intermediate transfer belt. SOLUTION: In accordance with the image formation modes which are equal in number to image formation modes, the photoreceptor drums 1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d are brought into contact with an intermediate transfer belt 81 and separated therefrom. In this case, entry angles αand γ of the intermediate transfer belt 81 relative to the primary transfer member 24d are restricted by a restricting member 21 disposed upstream from the primary transfer member 24d where image formation is carried out. Similarly, exit angles β and δof the intermediate transfer belt 81 relative to the secondary transfer member 40 are restricted by a restricting member 22 disposed downstream from the secondary transfer member 40. |
