The invention relates to the use of imidazole compounds of formula (I), wherein: R1 and R2, independent of one another, represent H, A1, OA1, SA1 or Hal; A1 represents H, A, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or alkylene cycloalkyl; A represents alkyl having 1-10 C atoms; Hal represents F, Cl, Br or I, and; X represents O, S, SO or SO2, as well as the physiologically compatible salts and/or solvates of said imidazole compounds as phosphodiesterase VII inhibitors, and to their use for producing a medicament.
