The invention relates to a steam iron with instantaneous vaporisation comprising a water container (2), a steam chamber (32), an anti-drip device (80) and a drip device having a rod (4) which moves axially. According to the invention, the total stroke of the axially-moving rod (4) comprises a first stroke which provides the flow of water through the opening (520) of a module (5) that receives the water from the container (2) via the anti-drip device (80) and a second stroke which simultaneously opens a direct passage for the water to flow from the container (2) to the module (5) and moves the module (5) by opening a larger hole for the water to flow from the container to the steam chamber.
