Electrolytic capacitor - having plastic sheath closed at each end by electrically conducting plugs

The capacitor includes a coil immersed in an electrolyte and arranged in a plastic tubular sheath, the ends of the sheath being closed by electrically conducting, pref. metal, plugs to which leads are attached. Pref. the plugs are provided with frusto conical steps and the plugs resiliently engage in the ends of the sheath, the steps preventing the plugs from falling out of the sheath. The sheath may be of heat contractable material (e.g. polyamide, polyester, or polyolefin) and the sheath may be heated to contract it around the plugs. The sheath prevents escape of the electrolyte.
