PURPOSE: A vacuum fluorescent display is provided to increase effective pattern area, minimize separation of carbonate coated around a filament, and maintain distances between the pattern and filaments uniformly. CONSTITUTION: A vacuum fluorescent display comprises a front plate(12), a rear plate(14) and side glasses(16) for a vacuum container, and a filament(26) for emitting thermal electron in the container. The filament(26) has end cooling areas at its both ends and is fixed on mounts(32,24) by two filament supports(28,30). On the rear plate(14), a display pattern part having an anode electrode and a phosphor layer(24) is formed between the end cooling areas after forming an insulating layer and a lead layer. A grid electrode(36) is formed between the filament(26) and the display pattern part for controlling the thermal electron. The mounts(32,34) have muscle units(38,40) for supporting the filament(26) in the end cooling areas higher than the fixed ends.
