METHOD FOR GRAFT POLYMERIZATION TO POLYMER SUBSTRATE

A method for the graft polymerization to a polymer substrate wherein an organic polymer substrate having been irradiated with a radiation is contacted with a polymerizable monomer, characterized in that the graft polymerization is effected while moving the polymer substrate continuously or intermittently in a condition such that the substrate is loosened, i.e., no or little tension is applied to the substrate. The method can be employed also in the case of an organic polymer substrate having a relatively low strength and allows the production of a graft-polymerized substrate being free from the problems associated with nonuniform grafting.
