The invention relates to a wiper device that is used to clean the panes especially of motor vehicles. Said wiper device is provided with a driven wiper arm (12) that is guided on the motor vehicle and that is displaced between return positions. At the free end (14) of said wiper arm, a hinge pin (36) is mounted on one end on said wiper arm, the hinge axis (38) thereof extending at an angle to the wiper arm longitudinal axis substantially in the direction of movement (22) of the wiper arm. A wiper blade (16) that is swiveled about the hinge axis and that can be placed against the pane (28) is mounted on the hinge bolt. The wiper device is provided with means for securing the wiper blade on the hinge pin. Said means have stop surfaces (78, 86) that are spaced apart transversely to the hinge axis and that point away from one another. Said stop surfaces are disposed on the wiper blade and engage well between opposite locking surfaces (80, 81) of the wiper arm (12). A simple and inexpensive wiper device can be produced by arranging the stop surfaces of the wiper blade on the two lateral sides of a coupling element (32) that is disposed on the wiper blade and that has a bearing bore (34) for the hinge pin (36). The one locking surface of the wiper arm is a cheek area (80) facing the wiper blade and the other locking surface (81) is configured on a projection (44) of the hinge pin (36) projecting from the bearing bore (34), said projection engaging behind the stop surface (86) of the wiper blade facing away from the wiper arm (12).
