Regulation of the generation of methane gas in a multi-stage process, involves raising or lowering one of the variable regulating settings in relation to an optimization target parameter. An increase in the variable regulating setting is taken in pre-determined uniform increases of one unit. The change is taken despite the absolute value e.g. comparison of actual value with target value. The change is made in response to a tendency detected in the optimization-target parameter. The tendency is an increase or decrease in an optimization-target parameter over a given time lapse. The process takes place in two reactors (1, 2). The variable setting is the speed of the output pumps (P1, P2), or the reactor heaters (21, 22), or the oxygen feed (14) to the first-stage. The first process is hydrolysis, and the second stage is methane generation.
|
