The invention relates to the continuous production of nano-scale noble metal particles on supporting materials containing SiH, to the compositions themselves, and to the use of these compositions, which contain noble metals, as catalysts. The inventive continuous method for generating nano-scale noble metal particles involves at least the following steps: impregnating the supporting materials following by an immediate drying, optionally after thermal activation, in order to obtain compositions that are active in the catalysis of oxidation reactions. The catalytically active compositions that contain noble metals exhibit high selectivities and productivities and very long catalyst useful lives without deactivation. The invention also relates to a method for oxidizing hydrocarbons in the presence of oxygen and of a reducing agent.
