An electronic system and method of pervasive output allow an information apparatus to output digital content conveniently to virtually any output device. The information apparatus includes an output manager that may be implemented as application software, a client application, or device driver. The output manager may be capable of communicating with, managing and synchronizing data (516) or software components with an output device or an output controller associated with the output device. An output controller is installed in or connected to an output device, such as a printer, to enable the output device to communicate and negotiate services (514) with an information apparatus such as mobile computing device. The information apparatus may communicate with the output controller to obtain device dependent data or software components such as device specific printer driver.
