Two rotary elements (10,14) comprise a gear wheel (12,16) each. The first rotary element is set in motion by a drive mechanism (M). Another drive mechanism (A) alters the relative position between the first and second rotary element, with or without a variation of the distance between the axles of the first and second rotary elements. Two intermediate gear wheels (18,20) engage with each other, with an intermediate coupling (22) moved by an actuator (28) and fixing their axial distance apart. A first (24) and second (26) coupling fix the axial distance apart between the first gear wheel and first intermediate gear wheel, and between the second gear wheel and second intermediate gear wheel respectively.
