The present invention relates to a novel mago nashi nucleic acid sequence fr om the chicken (genus Gallus). More specifically, relates to novel nucleic acid molecules isolated from the chicken, and Mago proteins encoded by the isolat ed nucleic acids. the present invention is also directed to nucleic acid probes for hybridization to the chicken mago nashi nucleic acid sequence, methods o f expression thereof and methods to detect the mago nashi related nucleic acid sequences and the Mago protein products thereof.
