The fuel injector incorporates a fuel reservoir (127), in which the fuel to be injected is contained at high pressure. The reservoir is a one-piece precision-cast component with mainly spherical or cylindrical reservoir chamber (150). It is positioned on the back of the injector housing (101) central to the axis, and there is a central high-pressure channel (107) between the two. Housing and reservoir are connected via a nut (142) and a screw thread (141). The reservoir is fabricated from hardened steel with an elongation element of 750Mpa or more.
