Method and apparatus for binding a bundle (12) using an elongate flat strap (30) having a heat sensitive adhesive thereon. The apparatus (10) includes mechanism for driving (38a, 38b) the strap (30) in a loop around the bundle (12), a gripper (76) for griping an end of the strap (30), a mechanism for drawing (34a, 34b, 36a, 36b) the strap (30) taut about the bundle (12), and heated press elements (80, 86) for clamping adjacent overlapping portions (30d, 30e) of the strap (30) together to reactive adhesive in the strap (30) to ond the overlappingsections together (30d, 30e). A cutter (130) servers remainder portions of the strap (30).
