Paper web compensation calender has series of transverse holes in peripheral margin with electrically heated elements

A calender array for the treatment of a web has upper and lower rollers separated by a gap for the web. One of the rollers has a mechanical anti-bending compensation system and is heated. This roller has a series of drill holes (9) passing end-face to end-face closely spaced around the peripheral (2) margin. The holes hold electrical heating elements. The drill holes (9) are packed with a heat transfer medium. The heating elements are radiators with their electrical connections (14) on the same or on both end-faces of the roller. The heating elements are flat pipe radiators arranged in parallel.
