An electrical switching contact has first contact surfaces which move relative to second contact surfaces. At least one of the first or second contact surfaces has recesses (10) limited by contact lines (11.1, 12.1, 13.1) on which an electrically conducting connection between the contact surfaces is formed. An independent claim is also included for the production of an electrical switching contact comprising forming a tubular part with several smooth first and second contact surfaces, orientating the tubular part, and forming recesses in the contact surfaces so that contact lines are formed between the recesses. Preferred Features: The recesses are regularly arranged. The surface of each contact surface with the recesses is coated with hard gold.
