PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of sealing a metallic container with wettability of an adhesive for a glass plate increased by carrying out corona discharge to make the glass plate difficult to peel when sticking the glass plate to a flange of the metallic container formed like a shallow pan. SOLUTION: The method of sealing the metallic container comprises a first step of preparing the shallow-pan-like metallic container 51 having the flange 51a and the glass plate 52, a second step of placing a corona discharging electrode 11 at a position opposite to the flange 51a of the container 51 and also placing a dielectric member 12 between the flange 51a and the electrode 11, a third step of applying a voltage to the electrode 11 to generate corona discharge between the electrode 11 and the flange 51a, a fourth step of applying the adhesive to the flange 51a, and a fifth step of bringing the glass plate 52 into tight contact with the flange 51a.
