PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving device for a slitter, which wears uniformly the surface of a receiving roll without damaging the same so as to become recessed and projected condition even when a slitter knife is abutted against the receiving roll upon cutting a sheet thereby preventing faulty cutting or faulty position of cutting work which is generated when the surface of the receiving roll has become the recessed and projected condition. SOLUTION: In the slitter for effecting cutting work at the desired position of a strip sheet fed by the slitter knife and the receiving roll, a sliding device for sliding the receiving roll into a direction orthogonal to the feeding direction of the continuous sheet is arranged so as to be engaged with the receiving roll to slide the receiving roll into the direction orthogonal to the feeding direction of the continuous sheet by the sliding device upon cutting the sheet with the slitter knife.
