PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiple display device which keeps the concentration of a display by means of a display means in the optimum state with respect to external light (see-through light) and easily allows shutter speed of CCD, etc., to be kept in the optimum state even in the environment for use where various levels of the light quantity are assumed. SOLUTION: This multiple display device is provided with a display optical system which guides a luminous flux from the display means to an eyeball of observer, an image pickup optical system which subjects the luminous flux from the outside to image formation on an image pickup means and an optical path separating means which is disposed in the optical path and allows the eyeball optical axis of luminous flux which is made incident to the eyeball of observer of the display optical system or the virtual eyeball optical axis which is made by extending the eyeball optical axis to substancially coincide with the external light axis of luminous flux which is made incident from the outside of the image pickup optical system, therein, the display means displays picture information periodically and intermittently, and the image pickup means performs the recording of picture information from the outside in a period of time during which the display means displays no picture information. Therein, an LCD control part 1060 which controls a display term during which the display of picture information is performed by the display means and/or an image pickup term during which the image pickup means performs the recording of picture information from the outside by means of an output value of an external light quantity detecting part 1009 or an optical quantity regulating part 1010 is disposed.
