PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection-type television which is capable of preventing scars, stains and breakage of a screen, when the screen is not used for viewing and also has a function of writing display means. SOLUTION: A shutter device 10, covering the screen 26 to be projected with the image light emitted from a projector, is annexed to a stand frame 28 of the projection television, including the screen 26 and the stand frame 28. A shutter plate 10a of the shutter device 10 is made to be movable between a first state (a), in which the front of the screen 26 is covered and a second state (b), in which the front of the screen 26 is opened. The front surface of the shutter plate 10 is usable as a writing display surface as well.
