A brake assembly 11 locks a slidable sash window (10, fig 1) or door within a track 16 of a frame 12. The assembly comprises a slider body 14, a brake member 34, 35, and a cam 40. The slider body has a central opening 28 and a lateral opening 32. The brake member is mountable for sliding movement trough the lateral opening. The cam, which is adapted to receive a pivot member 60 mounted on the sash, is rotatably mounted in the central opening and provides a radial bias effect to the brake members and an axial bias with the slider body itself. The slider, brake member and cam are thus effected into a frictional abutment with the track when the sash is pivoted. |
