摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and surely anchor the high-tensile body of a submarine optical cable. SOLUTION: The anchoring part 10 of the anchoring apparatus consists of an anchor disk 11 and a wedge 10W. A high-tensile body 9, which consists of steel wires (3a, 3b, etc.), constituting the high-tensile wire layer 3 of the submarine optical fiber and divided pieces (2a, 2b, 2c) constituting a pressure resistant layer 2, is held and anchored by the anchor disk 11 which provides a anchoring surface 16 and the inside and outside tapered faces of the wedge 10W. The inside hardness of the anchoring part 10 is less than that of the high-tensile body 9. A rugged shape is provided on the surface of the anchoring surface which comes into contact with the high-tensile body. The hardness of a hardened surface layer is increased more than the hardness of the high- tensile body by applying surface hardening. Thereby, the projected parts of the anchoring surface bite into the high-tensile body to increase the friction coefficient, and the contact area between the high-tensile body 9 and the anchoring surface 16 is increased by plastic deformation in the anchoring part 10 to reliably anchoring the cable.</p>
