PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hemispherical insert having an efficient cutting chip cavity, furnished with a top rake angle without a non-cutting part on a top point simultaneously and to solve a working characteristic of the insert, especially the working characteristic after finishing work and special finishing work. SOLUTION: The hemispherical insert for the milling machine furnished with symmetrical two cutting ends 201, 301 against an insert rotation axis 20 or an insert central surface 30 includes side parts 211, 311 on which each of cutting ends 201, 301 lines on surfaces 241, 341 different from the central surface in parallel with the insert central surface 30 and pole parts 221, 321 lying on surfaces 251, 351 linking the surfaces 241, 341 of the side parts 211, 311 to the insert central surface 30 in the neighbourhood of the rotation axis 20, and a continuous broken part 101 is provided on two cutting ends 201, 301 on the rotation axis 20.
