PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dental material having improved mechanical properties. SOLUTION: This dental material comprises a cluster represented by the general formula: [(M1)a(M2)bOc(OH)d(OR)e(L-Sp-Z)f] (I) wherein M1 and M2 are mutually independent and each represent a metal atom of III main group or V main group or a metal atom of I subsidiary group to VIII subsidiary group of the periodic table; R is a 1-6C alkyl group; L is a coordinating group having 2-6 complexation centers; Sp is a spacer group or is not present; Z is a polymerizable group; (a) is a number of 1-20; (b) is a number of 0-10; (c) is a number of 1-30; (d) and (e) are each independent and each represents a number of 0-30; (f) is a number of 2-30; each electric charge in which the cluster (I) exists is equalized by a pair ion.
