PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold capable of obtaining a rotary non-axially symmetrical prism of an optical element having no unevenness of optical characteristics even by repeating a molding step. SOLUTION: The mold 1 for molding the optical element comprises at least one or more concave surfaces, and first to third optical surface forming surfaces 8, 5 and 11 for molding the rotary non-axially symmetrical prism made of a plastic and having a plurality of optical surfaces having one or more optical surfaces of convex surfaces. In this case, surface roughness of each of the convex surfaces for forming the optical surfaces of the concave surfaces of the plurality of the optical surface forming surfaces 8, 5 and 11 is formed more roughly than that of each of the concave surface parts for forming the optical surfaces of the convex surfaces.
