METHOD FOR DYEING POLYVINYL ALCOHOL-BASED FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dyeing by which a fiber capable of being dyed when the fiber is formed, which is easy to change a color and by which a fiber having good washing fastness can be stably obtained. SOLUTION: This method comprises carrying out a wet spinning or a dry and wet spinning of a spinning dope comprising at least a vinyl alcohol-based polymer and an organic solvent to a solidifying liquid having solidifying ability to the vinyl alcohol-based polymer and then passing at least an extraction process of immersing a filament into an extracting liquid for extracting the organic solvent composing the spinning dope and a drying process to obtain a polyvinyl alcohol-based fiber. In this method, the fiber is produced by using an organic solvent-based extracting liquid as the extracting liquid and introducing a substitution process of applying a substituting liquid obtained by dissolving a dye into an organic solvent to the filament in either process till the drying process after the solidifying liquid is removed.
