PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming an image having excellent various types of durability of a thermal transfer image even under severe using conditions and a thermal transfer sheet used therefor. SOLUTION: The method for forming the image comprises the steps of providing thermally transferrable color material layers of at least three colors of yellow, magenta and cyan on a base sheet 4, thereafter repeating one unit having a thermally transferable protective layer 3, sequentially forming surfaces, thermally transferring the color materials 2 of the thermal transfer sheet 1 on a material 5 to be transferred by using the sheet 1 constituted so that an installing area of the layer 3 is twice as large as a screen size to form the image 6, thermally transferring so as to cover a part to be printed at least with the layer 3 from the sheet 1 on the image 6, and thereafter releasing the sheet 4. The method further comprises the steps of executing twice or more transferring of the layer 3 to the same material 5, and laminating the two or more layers 3 on the image. |
