PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent malfunction of a sheet discharging device caused by incorrect detection for presence/absence of sheets attributable to deflection of the sheets during the post-treatment when a sheet bundle is aligned or stapled. SOLUTION: When the sheets are aligned by a paddle 23 and an aligning plate 34, or when the sheets are stapled by a staple unit 23, control is performed so as to neglect the result of detection for presence/absence of the sheets by a sheet presence/absence detection sensor lever 30 and a sheet presence/absence sensor 30a.
