摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability in an adjustment of an optical axis direction by detecting the generation of malfunction in a DC motor driving system to be used for the adjustment of the optical axis of a headlight before starting the control. SOLUTION: DC motors 35L and 35R are driven by the predetermined current output before starting the control for adjustment of the optical axis direction of the headlights 30L and 30R based on the optical axis control angle computed on the basis of the various sensor information. When a fluctuation of the output from potentiometers 36L and 36R is not detected, a determination that a malfunction is generated in the DC motor 35L and 36R driving system is done. For example, the generation of malfunction in the DC motors 35L and 35R driving system can be detected before practically requiring lighting of the headlights 30L and 30R by detecting a malfunction when starting an ignition switch ON to start an internal combustion engine of a vehicle. Reliability in the control for adjustment of the optical axis direction of the headlights 30L and 30R can be thereby improved.</p>
