PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for selecting a target capable of accurately selecting a designated target even when a size of a target candidate is equal. SOLUTION: The method for selecting the target comprises the steps of standardizing a position and a moving speed of each target including the designated target and the target candidate near the designated target before shooting, further obtaining an image feature amount of each target, and transferring the data to an airframe 10. The airframe 10 calculates a present coordinate position by calculating according to an inertial navigation during flying, measures a relative distance and a bearing angle from the airframe to a plurality of the target candidates, and extracts the image feature amounts of each target candidate. The airframe selects the target candidate nearest the image feature amount of the designated target nearest the position of the designated target corrected by the moving speed at the position of the standardized designated target as the designated target.
