PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of checking the interference of a work in a machine tool, easily applicable at a low cost in the machine tool with a turnable table, and a checking member. SOLUTION: The checking member 10 having a transfer face on which the contour of the largest work capable of being machined, previously determined for every machine tool, is transferred is mounted on a main spindle 54 and an actual work W to be machined is mounted on the table 55 by using a mounting bracket M. 360 deg. turn is given to the table 55 in the state of positioning the table 55 on which the actual work W is mounted and the main spindle 54 on which the checking member 10 is mounted so that the transfer face contacts the outside surface of the largest work when the largest work is mounted at the turning center of the table 55. The interference of the work in the machine is checked depending on whether the actual work W and the mounting bracket M interfere with the transfer face of the checking member 10 or not.
