LOW MELTING POINT AND HIGH REFRACTIVE INDEX TELLURITE GLASS AND OPTICAL ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a high refractive index tellurite glass not substantially containing a lead component, producible at a low temperature, having a low extinction coefficient to visible light and formable at a low temperature, and to provide an optical element using the tellurite glass. SOLUTION: The low melting point and high refractive index tellurite glass has a refractive index of >=1.8 and <1 mol% PbO content and is nearly colorless and transparent.
