PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To pull out a paper sheet without damaging it, in the case of generating a paper jam. SOLUTION: This copying machine 1 comprises an upper roller 211a abutting to an obverse side of the paper sheet delivered from a stack bypass 203 to rotate, a lower roller 211b oppositely arranged to this upper roller 211a to abut to a reverse side of the paper sheet to rotate by prescribed torque or less, and a mechanism connecting a drive gear 400a of the upper roller 211a and a driven gear 300c of the lower roller 211b through an intermediate gear 400b, the copying machine is provided with a refuge means making the intermediate gear 400b temporarily take refuge from between the drive/driven gears 400a, 400c.
