PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transition metal complex in which a carbon cluster having a fullerene skeleton is bound in the formη5 type and an organic ligand having a conjugated system skeleton is also bound. SOLUTION: This transition metal complex which belongs to the group 3 to 10 in the periodical table, contains a carbon cluster anion derived from at least fullerene, for example, fullerene C60 having a skeleton represented by formula (I) (R groups are each independently identically or differently H or an organic group), and further contains an organic ligand having a conjugated system skeleton.
