The device includes a drive to variably adjust a transfer characteristic between a motor drive and the drive wheels of the vehicle. The display device has two indicators (1,2). These pivot about coaxial axes (3) by means of associated motor drives. One indicator (1) displays the current vehicle speed. The other indicator (2) displays the motor rotation rate (n). The indicator drives are arranged such that the pivotal movement of both indicators (1,2) is congruent when the min. transfer characteristic is set and the force transferred from the motor to the wheels is not interrupted. The first indicator (1) for displaying speed follows the drive of the second indicator (2) when a higher transfer characteristic is set.
