An embracing ladder access hatch cover consists of shaped, highly-visible, non-slip rigid material and is attached by hinges to a backplate 7 that is provided with means for connecting it to tubular metal 8 or timber 9 scaffolding members. The lid 1 has side movement cheeks 3 and a flush fitting top handle 4 or lifting point. Slim flush fitting 'U' bolts and screws may fix the hatch cover to scaffold members using a hinged, rigid drilled backplate 7. A stopping device may be provided to prevent the hatch from opening more than 80{, ensuring a 'Must Close' mechanism and the weight of the lid may be counterbalanced by springs. A pop-up lifting handle 4 may limit bending of the open hatch, and a visibility grill 5 may prevent accidental meeting when there is more than one hatch per ladder. A lid locking device, damping mechanism and two-part shaped ladder surrounding kickplate may be incorporated. |
