PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent luminance of respective light sources from lowering due to temperature elevation of the respective light sources, caused by radiant heat from the other light sources in a liquid crystal display which employs a side light type backlight unit with a plurality of the light sources arranged in the inside. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is provided with a liquid crystal display element, having a pair of substrates and a liquid crystal sandwiched between a pair of the substrates and the backlight unit arranged on a side of the liquid crystal display element opposite to the display screen. The backlight unit is provided with a light transmission body, a plurality of the light sources arranged in a direction perpendicularly intersecting the display screen of the liquid crystal display element, at least on one side of the light transmission body and making irradiating light irradiate the liquid crystal display element, reflection members covering the respective light sources and having shielding means to be arranged between the respective light sources, and a housing member to accommodate the light transmission body, a plurality of the light sources and the reflecting members. |
